Now there's a challenge that could open up a huge can of worms! But instead I shall let experiences inspire rather than making this personal.
Games. What comes to mind when I think of games? Is it a drunken game of Twister or trying to buy Mayfair and Park Lane when playing Monopoly? No. For me I think of it figuratively. The games people play in their daily lives that affect the lives of others around them. You see it every day. At home, in the street, in the work place. I don't think there's a person living on this planet that hasn't played these types of games in one way or another. It can start as something lighthearted, playful even. But usually it's full of intent. To get one over on someone. To have the upper hand. To feel superior. To lessen the validity of the existence of another human being. Ego driven. It fills a need. Great satisfaction comes from seeing the fruits of their games. Thinking of the people I have witnessed playing these games, I begin to wonder what sparked their intention to make others miserable. Did something similar happen to them at some point in their lives? Is it revenge or learned behaviour? Or are they just merely a nasty piece of work? Manipulative puppeteers.
What happens to the players and those that have been played? Who gets to move on and who gets stuck in a never ending cycle? I would like to think that those who have been played get to move on, but that's not always the case. As for the players, I hope that they all end up on the receiving end at some point in their lives.
Mind games are never a good choice. No-one becomes a better person for playing them. However while the world keeps turning the players will keep on playing and the vulnerable will continue to be played.
